Our History

The story of US Restoration begins after Wayne Catalano graduated East Jefferson High School in 1974. Shortly after graduating, Mr. Catalano, a New Orleans native, moved to Santa Monica, California to work with his father's company, Carpet Care of California. There, he began to learn many trades such as carpet installation, cleaning, and remediation, working for clients such as UCLA, USC, and 184 branches of Security Pacific National.

After a successful five years in California, Mr. Catalano decided to take what he had learned and bring it back home to New Orleans, where he opened Catalano's Cleaning and Restoration in 1979. Catalano's became the first company in New Orleans to use totally self-contained truck cleaning units. His first client was 1st Lake Development Management. Mr. Catalano was offered an audition in which he cleaned a carpet that 1st Lake believed was unsalvageable. Half an hour later, 1st Lake called to ask how soon he could return to clean the remaining carpets. They couldn't believe that a carpet they'd written off as damaged beyond repair, which they had planned to throw away, was now so clean.

Shortly thereafter, Mr. Catalano was awarded the D.H. Holmes Company in home cleaning contract, handling all their customers’ carpet, upholstery, and drapery cleaning. He also started a new home cleaning program with Maison Blanche, another local department store. As he expanded his client base, Mr. Catalano began to serve as a full service, one-stop shop to handle all insurance claims. Whether the damage was from fire, flood, wind, or hail, Catalano's would handle the remediation. Working with State Farm, he became a preferred vendor for their Premier Service Program, in which Mr. Catalano acted as an emergency response mediator and wrote repair estimates for State Farm claims agents to review and approve.

Wayne Catalano

President

The President of US Restoration has over 37 years of experience in the industry.

In 2002, Mr. Catalano became president of Nationwide Restoration, a company he set up to handle restoration for major catastrophic events in large commercial and industrial properties, assisting clients such as Purdue University, Falk Manufacturing in Milwaukee, and the Pringles Potato Chip Plant in Jackson, Tennessee. In 2003, Mr. Catalano handled emergency service remediation, document restoration and reconstruction services for over 29 public facilities in Punta Gorda, Florida after the devastation from Hurricane Charley.

Mr. Catalano worked on many important projects in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina as well. He handled emergency services and total remediation of the Murphy Oil Building, as well as the City Courthouse and District Attorney's Office. Mr. Catalano's company played a major role in the establishment of the Recovery School District, removing all contaminated contents from every school that planned on reopening (a total of 35). This massive project was completed in just two and a half weeks and the performance was so good that Mr. Catalano received a contract to place new furniture and equipment in the schools. And for the last five years, Mr. Catalano has overseen the Recovery School District's receiving warehouse.

In 2010, Mr. Catalano created US Restoration to handle large commercial and industrial work from coast to coast. While he has a national presence with his business, he remains fiercely proud of his place in the New Orleans community for the past 32 years. Whether it's with Catalano's Cleaning and Restoration or US Restoration, Mr. Catalano's two philosophy’s remains the same: “When Quality Counts” and “100% Customer Satisfaction”.
